Transparency International (TI) is the largest anticorruption coalition in the world, with national chapters in more than 100 countries. Transparency International U.S. (TI US), based in Washington, D.C., is focused on the role of the U.S. government in combating global corruption. We develop, design and promote policies to stop illicit finance, promote political integrity, and protect whistleblowers. We seek to strengthen U.S. engagement with international organizations such as the IMF, UN, and G20, and assist other TI chapters with their interactions with U.S officials and institutions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the ever-changing landscape of cross-border corruption requires constant innovation and idea generation, TI US’s Anticorruption Policy Lab brings together talented lawyers and other professionals from across the country and across disciplines to research and draft bold new anticorruption legislation and policies, as well as factsheets, briefing memos, and other materials.

TI US is seeking a part-time attorney to recruit and manage pro bono attorneys and policy experts working with the TI US Anticorruption Policy Lab, as well as to assist with other TI US policy projects. Working with the TI US staff and reporting to TI US’s Director of Advocacy, the Manager will design and execute plans for recruiting top talent as Lab Fellows; assign and oversee work; develop and apply substantive legal and policy expertise on TI US’s issue set in order to provide Fellows with detailed feedback and guidance; and support specific policy projects as needed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment, Management, and Content Review

Build relationships with law firms, solo practitioners, academics, associations and organizations to recruit Lab Fellows; set goals, assign deliverables, schedule regular check-ins and review progress on projects; provide guidance to Fellows on legal and policy research and analysis; and review and edit drafts of legislation and other Lab products.

Specific Policy Projects

Lead and assist with specific policy projects and assignments, ranging from short-term legal research and policy analysis tasks to long-term research and policy development projects, as appropriate needs emerge.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to commit to a consistent and reliable part-time work schedule;
• J.D. and a minimum of 5 years of legal experience;
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills; and
• Significant policy analysis experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience drafting federal legislation;
• Experiencing managing pro bono counsel or other professionals;
• Existing relationships with law firms, or demonstrated experience building a pipeline of pro bono attorneys; and
• Knowledge of U.S. anticorruption issues and laws.
